The Enugu State Police Command has announced a total ban on armed escorts and unauthorized security personnel at polling units for Saturday's Enugu North Senatorial Bye-Election, as the Command enforces strict movement restrictions across six Local Government Areas.

Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, declared the measures in a press statement issued on Friday, warning that only officially deployed security operatives would be permitted at voting locations.

According to the statement, movement are restricted from midnight to 6:00 p.m. on election day. The six Local government areas affected are: Igbo-Etiti, Igbo Eze North, Igbo Eze South, Nsukka, Udenu, and Uzo-Uwani.

The command noted that only electoral officials, accredited observers, journalists, and persons on verifiable essential duties will be allowed to move freely during the restriction period.

CP Giwa further cautioned political parties, candidates, and supporters against any act capable of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the election, vowing that violators "will be dealt with in accordance with the law."

The command urged residents and stakeholders are to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or other security agencies.
