The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Chidera Okorie, for allegedly robbing members of the public using a stainless lighter designed to resemble a pistol.
According to a statement signed by the force Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka on Saturday, Okorie, a native of Obinolu Ngodo Isiochi, was apprehended on July 5, 2026, by operatives of the Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters following actionable intelligence reports.
"The suspect is known to be habitually robbing unsuspecting members of the public using a stainless lighter designed to resemble a pistol, thereby instilling fear in his victims and dispossessing them of their belongings.
During his arrest, other related items were recovered from his possession." The statement reads
The command further advised members of the public to report any security concerns to the nearest police station or through the command's emergency lines.
