Nollywood veteran actor Taiwo Hassan popularly known as ogogo has reportedly passed away on sunday after battle with cancer.

His daughter, Kira Taiwo, made the announcement during a live session on Instagram days after the family disclosed that the actor was battling stage-four cancer and made an urgent public appeal for medical help.

The actor is known for his mastery of Yoruba traditions performance in Nollywood. His death brought a sombre end to several days of anxiety over his health after family called for assistance from colleagues.

Born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State, Hassan took an unusual route to stardom. Before becoming a full-time actor, he trained in automobile engineering and worked for about 13 years with the Lagos State Water Corporation as an automobile mechanic.

He began performing in 1981, initially fitting productions around his government job, working on weekends or using his annual leave to take part in performances. In 1994, he left the Water Corporation and committed himself fully to acting.

The veteran died at 66-year-old. Funeral arrangements will be communicated by the family soon.
