The Lagos State Government has received Dazzle Football Club of Lagos after the team’s impressive outing at the prestigious Dana Cup in Denmark, where it won gold and silver medals in the U-12 and U-14 categories respectively.
In a statement on August 11, 2025 it said the team was received at the office of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Teslim Balogun Stadium, by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, alongside the Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu.
In addition to the team’s medal haul, Toheeb Ojerinde of the U-14 side emerged as the Most Valuable Player, MVP, of the tournament.
Congratulating the players and technical crew, Fatodu commended the team for its outstanding performance on the international stage, saying their achievement had brought pride to Lagos State and Nigeria.
Fatodu said the recognition accorded the team was a demonstration of the government’s commitment to rewarding excellence and encouraging young talents to excel.
Fatodu further assured that the Lagos State Sports Commission would continue to provide an enabling environment for young talents to develop their potential and compete favourably on the international stage.
He said the Commission remained committed to nurturing talents, empowering dreams and producing future champions capable of bringing glory to the state and country.
The reception provided an opportunity for the government to celebrate the young footballers and technical crew for their dedication, discipline and performance at the international competition.
He said: “The ecosystem championed by the President is such that when you do well, a grateful state and nation receive you. This is the manifestation of that word this morning.
“Without statistical information, your group is just a drop in the ocean when we talk of over 22 million population in Lagos and 200 million in Nigeria.
“Imagine when the drop creates a significant ripple. That is what you have done and that ripple is what is going to inspire other people.”Fatodu said
