The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old suspected armed robber and notorious cultist, Odeshola Afeez, following a swift response to a distress call in the Ebute Metta area.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi:

"operatives were deployed after receiving information that a young man was harassing passers-by and causing panic within the community.

"Upon arrival, officers apprehended Afeez, who is suspected to be a member of a notorious cult group terrorizing local residents.

"A thorough search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one cartridge, and local charms concealed in his possession." The statement reads

The command further stated that the suspect has been invading arrest on several occasions before being apprehended.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly been engaging in activities capable of disturbing public peace and had successfully evaded arrest on previous occasions before his eventual apprehension." The statement reads

According to the statement, the commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the prompt response and professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation.

He further reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state. He also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information.
