The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected interstate kidnappers and armed robbers, reaffirming its commitment to eradicating crime across the state.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Hassan- 28 and Aminu Usman- 26 —both from Otukpa in the Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, were apprehended on May 14, 2026, at about 1:20 p.m. in Amutenyi, Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

According to a statement released on Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrest was carried out by operatives attached to the Udenu Police Division in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

Items recovered from the suspects include a Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of 9mm live ammunition, three suspected snatched motorcycles, a mobile phone, suspected charms, an ATM card, a bunch of keys, and cash totaling ₦4,700.

"The suspects are part of an interstate kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate allegedly involved in kidnapping and motorcycle snatching operations along the border communities between Enugu and Benue states." The statement reads

Reacting to arrest, the commissioner of police, CP Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives and the Neighbourhood Watch Group for their successful operation.

"We won't rest on our oars" he said while reaffirmed the command’s resolve not to rest on ridding the state of unrepentant criminal elements.

CP Giwa further urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies.

The command said that efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
