In a significant display of community-driven security initiative, the Abia state commissioner of police, CP Danladi Isa has officially commissioned the newly community built Nneato Divisional Police Station on Friday, praising the community's commitment to enhancing security in their area.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the command Public Relations Officer DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka on Friday.
According to the statement, the commissioning ceremony brought together community leaders, youth representatives, traditional rulers, and police officers posted to the new division.
CP Danladi Isa, expressed deep appreciation to the Nneato community for their thoughtfulness and dedication to improving security through the construction of the police facility. He urged the community to sustain their support by fostering collaboration, volunteering timely and useful information, and promptly reporting security concerns to the police.
The Commissioner emphasized that while police officers must remain accountable in their duties, members of the public must refrain from taking laws into their own hands. He issued a stern warning that attacks on police personnel or facilities would not be tolerated.
To ensure accountability, CP Isa noted that the Command's Complaint Response Unit and his office remain available for reporting any unprofessional conduct by police officers in the state.
Addressing officers posted to the new division, the CP charged them to remain professional, efficient, and accountable in their duties. He directed them to strengthen community policing efforts by working closely with community members to ensure proactive and intelligence-driven policing, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police.
The Commissioner further stressed that acts of unprofessional misconduct would not be tolerated and warned the officers to respect human rights while discharging their statutory duties.
The newly commissioned division stands as the 34th police division under the leadership of CP Danladi Isa, marking another milestone in community-police partnership in Abia State.
