*Suspect to be transferred to correctional centre where gang leader and four others are remanded

Awka —Police operatives have arrested the last identified member of the notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang allegedly led by a suspected criminal known as “Pincode,” in connection with a 2023 kidnapping that resulted in the death of the victim in Anambra.
Rhis was disclosed in a statement signed by the commands public relations officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Thursday.
According to him, the suspect, Olisa Oyelu, alias Obele, 25, an active member of the gang involved in the kidnapping operation, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The arrest, the command said, followed sustained intelligence gathering and painstaking investigation aimed at identifying, arresting and prosecuting all persons connected with the crime.
The command said that at the conclusion of investigative proceedings, Oyelu would be handed over to the Correctional Centre, where “Pincode” and four others are already remanded awaiting the judgment of the court.
The command reiterate its commitment to ensuring that all persons found to have participated in the crime are brought to justice.
Reacting to the development, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the operatives for their perseverance, dedication and intelligence-led approach to the investigation.
He assured Ndi Anambra that the command would continue to pursue criminal elements within and outside the state until they are brought before the law.
The commissioner further urged members of the public to continue providing the police with credible and timely information, noting that security remains a shared responsibility.
