In a strategic move ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Action Grassroot Alliance in collaboration with the Coalition of Support Groups for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (COSGABAT) has inaugurated new executive committee members to ensure grassroots backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

The event took place on Sunday at the Ikeja Club and attracted dignitaries from all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.

During the event, the Director General of the Action Grassroot Alliance, Mrs. Salewa Adegbenro, issued appointment letters to the new executives, charging them to discharge their duties with the fear of God.

"To our newly inaugurated executive, your appointment is a call to responsibility. Lead with integrity, unity, and commitment. Help the people feel the impact of your leadership in every ward, community, and local government area," she stated

Mrs. Adegbenro described the initiative as more than just an appointment of leaders. "We are not just appointing leaders; we are building a formidable platform, a movement dedicated to service, development, and political participation," she said.

She further explained that the alliance serves as a rallying point for civil servants, entrepreneurs, market men and women, professionals, youths, and community stakeholders who share a common vision for a greater Lagos and a stronger Nigeria. She reaffirmed the group's unwavering support for President Tinubu and Dr. Hamzat.

"We believe in your vision, leadership, and commitment to the progress of our nation and our state. On behalf of the entire Third Alliance family across Lagos State, I hereby pledge our total support to your leadership and our commitment to mobilising grassroots support for the continued success of the Renewed Hope Agenda," she stated.

Speaking with journalists after the event, Mrs. Adegbenro declared the group's readiness for the 2027 elections, citing President Tinubu's achievements as a key motivator. "We have groomed our members, and they understand what this politics is all about. President Tinubu has done a lot in the past three years in terms of infrastructure, education, agriculture, and the student loan scheme. Our members will come out massively to vote for him," she said.

In his speech delivered by the Director of Operations and Special Duties, Mr. Temitope Fawehinmi, the Chairman of the coalition, Chief Babajide Akin-Thomas, urged the new executives to prioritise service above self-interest.

"The National Grassroots Alliance must remain formidable, disciplined, and united. Our duty is to support the Lagos State government and our LCDAs, and to ensure the dividends of democracy reach every street and household. Avoid division. Avoid personal interest. Let our collective actions speak louder than words. Lagos is watching; the grassroots are counting on us. Do not fail them," Chief Akin-Thomas warned.

Speaking with journalists, Mr. Fawehinmi said that good governance is an achievable goal. "It is not a miracle; it is human beings that have to do it. God will not come down to do it for us. That is why we are supporting Dr. Obafemi Hamzat because we believe in his vision for a responsive government that can handle security, infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and a better life for citizens from the grassroots level," he said.

The group's Director of Media, Mr. Ziggy Ibe, described the event as a massive mobilisation of all LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos State. "We have gathered people in support of his incoming as Lagos governor," Mr. Ibe concluded.
