Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command led by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Olorundare Jimoh, have dismantled a major drug syndicate operating under the guise of a legitimate POS paper business, arresting a suspect and recovering 425 bags of suspected Canadian Loud and Colorado, estimated to worth N7.8billions.

The seizure was made at a 3 bedroom flat located at 10, Olori Adekemi Ajibola Street, Arowojobe Estate, Maryland, Lagos, where the suspect, identified as Eke Henry Ifeanyi, 41, from Enugu State, allegedly operated a warehouse behind his registered business, Ogata Venture Limited.

Addressing journalists at the scene on Saturday, the Zone 2 Commander, AIG Jimoh, explained that the suspect claimed to be engaged in the printing, production, and sale of POS receipt paper, but was secretly storing and distributing large quantities of prohibited substances.

"The reason for addressing you outside the Zone 2 air quarters is very obvious. In this building, upstairs, we discovered, investigated and recovered 425 bags of suspected Canadian Loud, which is prohibited in the country and has been wreaking havoc on youths, adults, and Nigerians generally," AIG Jimoh stated.

He disclosed that the operation was executed on May 19, 2026, following months of high-level intelligence gathering and surveillance on the suspect by detectives attached to the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (ZCID) Zone 2 Headquarters. He further noted that the arrest was made under the direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.

According to the AIG, the suspect uses three vehicles with forged presidential number plates to evade security checks and transport the drugs in small quantities to various markets within Lagos and other states. The vehicles are: Two BYD electric car with forged presidential number plates NYCN98SE and one Leopard Hybrid car with forged presidential plate number NYCN10SE.

"He has equally promised to bribe our officers with hundreds of millions of Naira to let him off the hook. We are disciplined police officers. We shun all acts of corruption," AIG Jimoh emphasized.

When asked about the estimated value of the recovered substances, the AIG responded: "the information we have is that one bag costs multi-millions of Naira. By estimate, it runs into billions of Naira."

He noted that the suspect initially claimed the bags contained tea leaves, a claim the police dismissed as absurd given the packaging method—double-sealed bags designed to preserve the potency of the illegal substance.

Speaking to journalists, the suspect Eke Henry Ifeanyi confessed and said: “I sell to two of my friends Ejike and Chijioke who take it outside the country for sell. Each bag is N500,000. Other buyers frequently come here to buy and resale”

AIG Jimoh confirmed that multiple arrests have already been made, though further details about collaborators would not be disclosed publicly as investigations are ongoing. he also revealed that the command has seized one republic of Liberia resident permit card, two ATM cards and one Emporio Armani wrist watch.

He stressed that under Section 4 and Section 66 of the Police Act 2020, the Nigeria Police Force has constitutional authority to investigate and prosecute all criminal cases, including drug-related offenses, without handing over to any other agency.

"We will ensure that no stone is left unturned. Everyone in the chain—importers, distributors, and sellers—is as culpable as each other. They will all face prosecution in the appropriate court," he vowed.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
