The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and charged a man identified as Emeka Joseph to court following a viral video showing he harm and assaulted his partner, Ezeka Chisom.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the commands public relations officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi on Wednesday.
According to police investigations, the victim sustained facial injuries during the alleged assault. The couple had been cohabiting at the time of the incident.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was assaulted by the suspect, with whom she had been cohabiting. The victim sustained injuries to her face. The suspect has since been charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, while the case has been adjourned till 3rd August, 2026" the statement read
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated the Command's firm stance against domestic violence.
He assured the public that cases involving violence and abuse will receive swift attention from the police.
The Command further urging Lagos residents to come forward with information on domestic abuse cases, emphasizing that early reporting can prevent further harm and ensure perpetrators face justice.
