The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two suspects, including an alleged military impersonator and a suspected cultist, in separate operations that led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and other incriminating items.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe.
According to the statement, operatives attached to the Command’s Department of Operations arrested 20-year-old Victory Chinecherem Chukwuebuka Anyegbulam, also known as “Aye Sir Alhaji Seun Usman Danfodio,” during a routine patrol along Abakaliki Road in Enugu on April 26, 2026.
Police said a search conducted on the suspect at Naira Triangle led to the recovery of a cut-to-size gun, two live cartridges, and a substance suspected to be cannabis.

In a separate operation carried out on April 23, 2026, police operatives arrested 34-year-old Uzondu Chiemezie Emmanuel along the Unity Estate/Loma Linda Road axis of Enugu.
According to the police: "a locally fabricated Beretta-like pistol was recovered from the him. The suspect initially claimed to be a serving member of the Nigerian Air Force but later confessed during interrogation to desertion and dismissal from the Force." The statement reads
The police said investigations into both cases are ongoing and that the suspects would be arraigned upon conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the arrests, the Enugu state Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and criminality in the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information that could aid crime-fighting efforts.
