The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 101-year-old woman identified as Esther Ogunmabo, for allegedly dealing in cannabis in Illisan, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to the agency's director of media and advocacy mr. Femi Babafemi, Ogunmabo was arrested on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with 90 grams of skunk, a strain of cannabis, packaged in retail sachets.

Ogunmabo told investigators that she went into the illicit drug trade after her provisions shop was destroyed by fire. She allegedly disclosed that one of her daughters, who lives in Lagos, supplied her with the substance every four days, which she subsequently sold in small quantities to local residents.

However, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), directed that Ogunmabo be granted bail and placed on counselling because of her advanced age.

The agency said the woman's daughter has also been arrested in connection with the case.
