The Lagos State Security Trust Fund’s Campaign Against Crime, Cultism and Other Vices (LSSTF-CACCOV) has announced a virtual cybersecurity campaign, aimed at promoting online safety and responsible digital citizenship.

Themed "Staying Safe in a Digital World," the event is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. (WAT) and will be streamed live on YouTube. The campaign comes at a time when digital security has emerged as a defining challenge of the 21st century, with threats such as phishing, cyberbullying, identity theft, misinformation, and financial fraud posing significant risks to individuals, businesses, and governments.

In a statement on Saturday, the organisers noted that "a single careless click" can lead to devastating consequences, stressing that sustained public awareness, digital literacy, and collective responsibility are essential to navigating the online space safely.

Dr. Moses Oladimeji, State Coordinator of the LSSTF-CACCOV initiative who is to host the event said "In today’s interconnected world, security no longer begins and ends within a physical location. It extends into cyberspace, where billions of digital interactions occur every day. The ability to navigate the online space safely is an essential life skill that provides a hedge."

Keynote speakers to speak at the campaign include Oluwabamise Soile, Lead, Security Governance and Risk at Payaza, and Meshole Emmanuel, Head of Programmes and Outreaches, LSSTF-CACCOV. The programme promises to feature expert presentations on emerging cyber threats, practical demonstrations of online safety practices, interactive Q&A sessions, networking opportunities, and access to cybersecurity resources and digital tools.

As an incentive, organisers announced that active participants during the event will receive over 1 Terabyte of internet data to support continued digital learning.

The LSSTF-CACCOV initiative is championed by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, who serves as its Grand Patron. The campaign is supported by strategic partners including the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Executive Hotel & Suites, Aethelgard Global Limited, AccompliTech, and Tormer, reflecting a growing public-private collaboration in promoting cyber resilience.

This cybersecurity programme marks another milestone in LSSTF-CACCOV’s expanding preventive security strategy, which has consistently focused on addressing the root causes of crime through education, advocacy, and youth engagement. Previous initiatives include anti-cultism campaigns in tertiary institutions and community sensitisation against drug abuse and crime.

The organisers invite members of the public, technology professionals, policy advocates, and youths to participate in the event. The organizers also made registration open via: https://tr.ee/-vxT29hzfW. The session can be joined via all LSSTF-CACCOV social media channels at https://bit.ly/CiCC26M, organised said.
