The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has issued a stern warning to officers of the command, declaring that he will not assume responsibility for any form of irresponsibility, stupidity, or misconduct displayed by personnel under their watch.

This was contained in a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.
“I won’t take responsibility for anybody’s stupidity; sit up and ensure utmost professionalism and discipline,” CP Giwa warns

CP Giwa gave the directive during the Commissioner of Police’s Monthly Strategic Conference held at the Senior Police Officers Mess on Agbani Road, Enugu. The meeting was attended by Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and heads of various formations, tactical units, sections, and departments.

During the conference, the Commissioner relayed key directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which were issued at a recent IGP’s emergency conference with senior police officers nationwide.

The directives stressed professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, intelligence-led policing, and responsible conduct in all engagements with the public.

CP Giwa made it clear that: "extortion, corruption, incivility, abuse of office, and unlawful detention would not be tolerated. He warned that any officer found guilty of such misconduct would face disciplinary actions in accordance with extant laws and police regulations." The statement reads

The Commissioner further charged officers to remain committed to proactive policing and public safety across Enugu State.
